Bank Holiday "caravanning" gets an image change…BANK holiday visitors will be making a beeline for a Lake District holiday park this weekend…to check out the Rolls Royce of the holiday park world. South Lakeland Parks is staging a special Lakeland Experience Event on Sunday May 27th to show visitors how far the traditional caravan experience has moved on in recent years, as it unveils the next generation of static luxury lodge at its five-star Holiday Park, Limefitt in the Troutbeck Valley. The day is designed to show how far the typical caravan park experience has changed. With most people associating holiday parks with the caravan experience of yesteryear, when families were crammed into a tiny living space, had to manage with poorly-powered gas cookers, pedal-powered sinks, noisy toilets and collapsible bunk beds. Not to mention a perilous motorway journey… As well as free pony rides with Lakeland Pony Trekking, a guided walk through the stunning Troutbeck valley, an opportunity to sample delicious Cumbrian produce from Plumgarths and exhibitions from cycle hire company Country Lanes, the main event will see the covers lifted on the next generation of Lake District holiday park accommodation. Guided tours will take place of its two Willerby New England luxury holiday lodges which were built just this year and are two of only four available across the whole of the UK. The lodges are part of its new Kirkstone development at the site. The next generation of accommodation available alongside the more traditional lodge and caravan homes, measures a spacious 43ft by 20ft and boasts all the stylish mod-cons of a five-star hotel. Costing a cool £225,000 to buy, you don’t have to tow them on any more perilous motorway journeys either, as they stay on site. With plasma TVs, DVDs, en-suite bathrooms, integrated speakers in the ceiling, leather sofas, whirlpool baths, laminated tiled floors, walk in wardrobes, telephone sockets and double-glazed PVC windows, they offer holiday home owners the next generation in indulgence. Graham Hodgson, Chief Executive of South Lakeland Parks, said: “This new model is as far away from a caravan experience as you could get and we are delighted to be the only holiday park in the UK to have not one, but two of these on offer to prospective home owners.” “The Willerby New England represents a new level of luxury holiday home ownership and from the enquiries we have received already, we are certain it will be incredibly popular as more and more visitors expect the standards on holiday that they enjoy at home.” Willerby Holiday Home Limited, based in Hull, describe the new 2007 model as such: “Willerby have raised the benchmark yet again when it comes to building quality, luxurious holiday homes. With a significant increase in dimensions (43ft x 20ft), this model immediately stands out from the crowd. Combined with superb finishes, holiday home design is suddenly taken to a whole new level.” Because the holiday homes are becoming high-spec and more comforting, it means people are prepared to stay longer onsite, particularly during the off-season, which provides a boost to local businesses relying on visitor spending. The special open day will also feature demonstrations from Cumbria Wildlife Trust, who the park works closely with. SEE MAIN WEBSITE PAGE... |
