Windermere Holiday Park One Of Britains Top 100

A LAKE District holiday park has this week been named as one of the best 100 in Britain in a nationwide awards competition.

Five-star Fallbarrow Park at Bowness-on-Windermere, beat off competition from thousands of other sites to win a privileged place in Practical Caravan Magazine’s Top 100 Parks 2007.

Fallbarrow, on the shores of Lake Windermere, is operated by South Lakeland Parks. The company runs nine sites across Cumbria and North Lancashire, where people can stay on a caravan touring pitch, or buy or hire a luxury pine lodge or state-of-the-art static holiday home.

The strict judging process involved mystery shoppers staying at the site and then scoring it against a level of service and facilities. Fallbarrow was successfully shortlisted, and then secretly visited by magazine judges who again assessed things like atmosphere, helpfulness of staff and facilities.

Claire Hailes, South Lakeland Parks’ reservations manager, accepted the award on behalf of the company at the presentation ceremony at the NEC in Birmingham.

Graham Hodgson, Chief Executive of South Lakeland Parks, said: "We are highly delighted with this award which recognises what a superb site Fallbarrow Park is for visitors, as well as the hard work put in by our staff."

The competition is run in conjunction between Practical Caravan Magazine and Capital Bank.
