Holiday Park announces appeal for Jake29/05/07 Holiday park announces Jake appeal A LEADING Morecambe holiday park has adopted the Lancaster and Morecambe Citizen’s Jake McClure Appeal as its major fundraising campaign for 2007.
Staff at The Regent Leisure Park at Westgate – will host a series of money-raising events to help Jake McClure’s family in their bid to raise £20,000 to send the youngster for revolutionary treatment in the USA. The park is run by parent company South Lakeland Parks, based at Natland, Kendal, which operates nine parks across North Lancashire and the Lake District. Each of its parks elects a chosen charity to raise money for every year. Staff at The Regent were touched by Jake’s story and have pledged to make their hundreds of annual holidaymakers and holiday home owners, aware of the Jake’s appeal. Daniel Thornton, General Manager of The Regent, said: “To get involved in such a worthy cause is a pleasure. With the help of all my staff here at The Regent and the large customer base we have, we shall be doing our utmost to keep Jake’s total climbing which will hopefully see him get to America for the treatment he needs. As a family park we see lots of children here enjoying themselves and want to help Jake’s family do the same.” Jake’s parents Roseanne and Martin McClure are trying to raise £20,000 to send the four-year-old to an Autism Treatment Centre in Massachussets to follow a special therapy programme. Jake began to decline into a world of his own and stopped talking and was diagnosed with autism. Anyone wishing to help the fund should contact the McClures on 01524 400641.
