Jobs boost at £125 million holiday park

An award-winning Lake District holiday parks operator which was bought recently for £125 million is hosting two major jobs fairs next week with over 30 vacancies.

South Lakeland Parks – which runs nine holiday parks throughout the Lake District and North Lancashire – is running a major recruitment drive for the tourism season ahead.

A selection of permanent and seasonal vacancies are available at its head office located at Natland near Kendal, and across its family of high quality holidays parks at Fallbarrow, Bowness; White Cross Bay, Windermere; Limefitt Park in the Troutbeck Valley, and The Regent at Morecambe.

Jobs include a human resources manager, a holiday reservations advisor, receptionists, site foremen, office managers, grounds maintenance workers, housekeepers and sales staff. Jobs in Morecambe include security guards, receptionist, shop assistant, kitchen assistant, lifeguards and an entertainments assistant.

The first fair takes place on Monday January 14th at the White Cross Bay Leisure Park between Windermere and Ambleside from 10am until 3.30pm.  The second takes place on Tuesday 15th at the Regent Park, Westgate, in Morecambe between the same time.

A recruitment hotline has also been set up for people to find out more about what jobs are available on 015395 69836 or by accessing the website www.southlakelandparks.co.uk

South Lakeland Parks was bought in December by White Ocean Leisure Limited, a privately owned company, in December after successfully growing the value of the business by £30 million in less than two years.

Only recently, two young staff at White Cross Bay became among the first of only five people in the country to pass a new apprenticeship qualification for those working in the caravan park industry.

Alex Hodgson, 23, from Windermere, and Ben Pie, 22, from Lancaster, whose roles include working at the 65-acre White Cross Bay Leisure Park on Lake Windermere, successfully completed a new NVQ Level 2 apprenticeship aimed at setting a new standard on holiday parks.

Parent company South Lakeland Parks encouraged the pair to work towards the Operational Services qualification as part of its investment in developing the workforce and to ensure the five star site is kept in top condition for caravan and pine lodge owners and holidaymakers.
